Good morning, some of you may have noticed about a week ago that the theme of resplace.net changed to a Halloween styled theme. However you may have also noticed that the theme was an out-dated v1 theme, the switch occurred because of a neat little feature I built into resplace some years ago, basically you can set themes to automatically activate and deactivate as the “default theme” for visitors to the website.
So the last couple of days I’ve been working on a new Halloween theme for resplace that is compatible for v2. This is now complete and you should now see a nice clean Halloween styled website .
BUT!! I have not just done that, I’ve also gone and implemented a new “homepage_feature” system that allows a particular theme to drop content on the homepage (themes can already drop content in the header and footer as well as change style sheets and etc.), this has allowed me to place a rather cool countdown to Halloween.
I’ve also done some vast improvements to the theme system, instead of themes being hard coded into the core files, they are now more dynamic and can be edited in one settings file. This enables me to drop and remove themes as required, and also in the future I will be using this codebase to create other websites.
Have fun counting down to Halloween! AND look out for our Christmas countdown!!
